The Black Coalition of
Forensic Peer Support Specialists

Who Are We
The Black Coalition of Forensic Peer Support Specialists (TBCFPSS) is dedicated to providing support and advocacy to individuals affected by the criminal justice system, especially within the African American community. Through lived experiences, we offer a unique perspective to break cycles of incarceration and empower individuals to reclaim their lives.

Why it Matters
Approximately 37% of inmates have a mental health condition. Peer support can reduce recidivism by 20% (NAMI).
Mental Health: Individuals impacted by the criminal justice system often face significant mental health challenges. Peer support can reduce recidivism and promote recovery.
Substance Use: Substance use disorders are prevalent among this population. Supportive interventions can lead to better outcomes and reduce substance use.
